Happy Sunday! Whether you’re a new subscriber or an existing subscriber, welcome back. Here are a few articles you should check out from this week!
This week, Ralph Lauren named James Jeter the Creative Director of Design and Brand Direction for Polo. He is the first Black Creative Director at Ralph Lauren. Ralph Lauren is a brand that sticks to the American Ivy aesthetic. What's interesting is that throughout Black history, the Ivy style has been present, so seeing a Black creative director at Ralph Lauren is better late than never. James has worked at Ralph Lauren since he was 16 and graduated from Morehouse College. HBCUs continue to produce graduates who push culture and break barriers. For more on the Black Ivy style, a good book to check out is "Black Ivy: A Revolt in Style" by Jason Jules.
The Weeknd announced his next album called "Hurry Up Tomorrow." This will be the final album completing the trilogy after "After Hours" and "Dawn FM." As with his previous projects in this trilogy, this will dawn a new era complete with a new aesthetic. The Weeknd performed some of the new songs at a show in Brazil. One of the standout songs was "Wake Me Up" which samples Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Check out the album cover and some photos from his recent show below.
For October, more will be done to ensure this weekly newsletter is giving the most to the subscribers. First, there will be a book club that will look at books, short stories, poems, plays, and essays by Black writers from the past and present. Often in Black media, these writers aren't highlighted and Malindi Press is going to make a concerted effort to change the narrative on that. Much like this current newsletter is structured, it is paramount that the Black audience gets used to seeing Fashion, Music, Art, Literature, and Business in the same place. This will be the beginning of setting that standard. If you have any suggestions on authors we should check out, let us know!
Second, there will be more interviews with interesting Black people from around the world. The culture is often segregated in terms of content. Consolidation of personalities is a great way to have certain conversations and open up our respective worlds to different perspectives and ideas. As before, if you have any suggestions on people we should interview, let us know!
"The Terminal": Where we navigate the vast sea of information to bring you the essential stops for our global Black audience. Just like a bustling terminal serves as a gateway to new destinations, our curated content will be your passport to knowledge, empowerment, and connection. Embark on this journey with us as we explore the world from a unique perspective—yours.

Song of the Week: “Breathe Me” by Tyla (South Africa)
Quote of the Week
My dreams are the reason I don't sleep that much
I paid the price, who knew it would be that much?
I'm a liar, I'm like, "Yeah, fam, keep in touch"
Knowing fully well we ain't gonna speak that much
I'm sick and tired
How long can they keep this up?

A recommendation of someone to interview is Dr. Giavanni Washington, the visionary of "Black Goddess Within" Oracle deck. Her Instagram is @blackgoddesswithin, the website https://blackgoddesswithin.com/. She has come a long way to help decolonize and represent the black body in a positive way. Her decks are sold worldwide. She definitely deserves the support from more of us. Let her know Erica MB lead you to her, that's my girl.😊
